Hunting
Hunting is one of the main sports of the area, for good reason. Deer, rabbit, dove, and turkey abound. Hunting clubs and individuals are always looking for another sports-minded enthusiast. McKenna Ranch, located in Pachuta, is an outfitter for white tail deer, Russian Boar, and wild turkey. Some might say that Clarke County offers some of the best hunting in the South.
Fishing
Great fishing can be found at the following: Archusa water park with its 450-acre lake situated within the city limits of Quitman, Clarkco State Park with a 65-acre lake is located on Hwy 145, approximately 5 miles north of Quitman, and on the Chickaswhay river, which features many public boat ramps.
Lake Eddins, located nearby in Jasper County, offers wonderful fishing opportunities to lake-side residents and their guests. Many Clarke County residents own a second home on the shores of this pristine lake, where they enjoy some of the best fishing in the state.
